Fiction Writing And I

I love fiction writing, because I feel like there are endless opportunities and you can just allow your thoughts to take control of your hand. I found this website called http://www.homepages.dsu.edu/jankej/Writing/tips.htm and it gives tips on what you need to be a fiction writer. It explains how to start a story, and it's basically as simple as Professor Q has put it. You need a setting, a plot, character/s, conflict (we all love CONFLICT!), dialogue and theme. It also says you need point of view, but as we've learned in class we can all read the same story/poem and interpret it completely different. That's what I love about writing! I will admit and I am so ashame of this flaw that I have, I really haven't read much books. I feel like I don't have the time and/or I don't make the time. I should find the time to read so I can become a better writter because I do admit you get good Ideas from others, so if anyone can suggest a book that I should read during winter recess since I'll have more time on my hands let me know.

Literary Excellence

What is Literary Excellence? I've searched the web and all that came up was awards. So I'm guessing it's a good thing. Well here is my interpertation of it just from what I've seen on the web. Literary means pertaining to or of the nature of books and writings, pertaining to authorship, engaged in or having the profession of literature or writing, characterized by an excessive or affected display of learning; stilted; pedantic, or preferring books to actual experience; bookish. We all know what excellence means, well if you don't it means the quality of excelling; possessing good qualities in high degree, an outstanding feature; something in which something or someone excels. Put the whole thing together and to me it means exceeding high qualities of writting, reading or anything having to do with literature. There is this guy in my Eng 330-60 class that reads 10 books (with ALOT of pages, no pictures) a week, during school semesters and 20 books on "VACATION!" Does he deserve the Literary Excellence Award? LOL..........

Female Fave

Maya Angelou I looooove her. I don't really understand why I do, but I do. I love her poems and the way she reads them even more. I've seen and heard her on TV a couple times. I guess she is so passionate about a lot of things and it poers out of her in her writting. I loved her poem for the inauguration of President Clinton, it was very inspirational. I hope as I develope my writing skills, my future readers can feel my passions.

My Writing! Hmmmm?

You know those people that are so, descriptive that when ever you read there work you can clearly see the scene they picture, or feel the feeling the characters feel, because of how descriptive the author was about the characters and what they were feeling throughout the story, well that is not me. I wish I could be more descriptive with my poems and short stories so that the readers can decipher what I am trying to say without having to actually say it.

If anyone has any ideas on how to be more descriptive please feel free to comment on my page. Any ways that help you guys be more creatively descriptive please let me in on your secret.

Prompting....

I went into Big Window and read Charles Bernstein's experiments and decided that the decoding poem would be a great idea, I'm going to try it with a poem I wrote when I was twelve called Follow the Road...If it is a success then I will post it up for all to see!
Well I searched the web for different sorts of prompting. Before I started, I must admit that I really didn't understand what it meant. What is poetry or writing prompting. Prompting is inspiring, it helps get the brain juice flowing. One of the web-sites I found that has some poetry prompting is http://blog.writersdigest.com/poeticasides/CategoryView,category,Poetry%20Prompts.aspx, most of the exercises were very creative. Another good website for writing prompts is http://www.creativewritingprompts.com/, this site helps with poetry, writing, descriptive prompting and awhole lot more. This will be very helpful for anyone who is having a hard time getting started on a writing assignment.
